Sri Sumantra Sarathi Mahata - Vidya Bharati Alumni, a Practicing Company Secretary and Legal Advisor of Vidya Bharati

Shri Sumantra Sarathi Mahata is an alumnus of Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Boxibazar. After completing his schooling he joined Madhusudan Law University, Cuttack under Utkal University to pursue B.A. LLB degree. 

“I got immense support at home as well as my teachers in school. My mother was a lawyer in Midnapore, which was a primary reason for me to take up law”, mentioned Sumantra. 

Although he studied in Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Boxibazar till 4th standard, his teachers always kept in touch with him even after he left the school. “They have helped me immensely with my studies”, he remembers. 

Presently, Shri Sumantra Sarathi Mahata is a Practicing Company Secretary. After completing his BA LLB, he worked with several organizations. The experience which he garnered from these organizations helped him to start his own firm in 2014. He has also done an MBA from the Manipal University. 

He is highly involved in his family run initiative called Prabhat Aloye Foundation. This non-profit organization has an orphanage, a leprosy centre, a free medical centre and a school under its umbrella. Every Sunday a free medical camp is organized in Purulia for underprivileged tribes of the district. Through these camps Sumantra and his team are giving immediate access to medicine for primary treatment to the poor and needy people. 

Sumantra also offers free tuitions to students. “There is a primary school in the village. I and my team are helping these children with their studies through free tuition classes”, adds Sumantra. 

As a message toward the students’ community of Vidya Bharati, Shri Sumantra Sarathi Mahata said, “One needs to be honest towards whatever they are doing whether it's studies or work. That is the only way to be successful in life. If you want to become an Advocate, always remember the word “Advocacy”. That is what people are seeking from you.”

Shri Sumantra Sarathi Mahata is also a legal advisor of Vidya Bharati.
