Vidya Bharati student, Thulasidas G, wins Gold Medal in south zone shooting championship

The importance of extracurricular activities and sports in the all round development of children has been well researched and validated. The mention of its importance has been mentioned even in ancient Indian texts. 

Vidya Bharati schools give immense importance to all forms of sports and encourage their students to take part in sporting competitions frequently. Several of Vidya Bharati students and alumni, has gone on to win accolades in both national and international sporting arenas. 

Recently Thulasidas G, an 11th grade student from Vyasa Vidya Peethom, Kallekkad, Palakkad, Kerala, won several medals in South Zone Shooting Championship. The event was  held in Idukki from 23rd to 30th August, 2019.  

The eleventh South Zone Shooting Championship 2019 in Rifle/Pistol (NR) event was held at District Rifle Association of Idukki, Kerala, where the championship was open to shooters belonging to the South Zone only. 

Thulasidas G not only won a gold medal in South Zone shooting championship under prone junior men, he also went on to win several other medals such as, 3rd rank in 50 mt prone senior men, bronze in prone senior men, 2 silvers in 3 prone junior men & in senior men category, as well as several team medals. 

Along with being an excellent shooter, Thulasidas is also interested in Taekwondo as well. Presently he is preparing in Palakkad District Rifle Association under coach Lenu Kannan for upcoming championship events, as well as studying for UPSC exams. 

According to Thulasidas, his father is his main supporter, who constantly encourages him to aim for his dreams. He also says that he receives immense support for his interest over sports and his studies from all his school teachers. It is his school sports teacher, who looks after his basic training and guides him.
