One of the objectives of Vidya Bharati is to spread education in the most remote locations of India. Over the years a considerable number of schools have been developed by Vidya Bharati at the different border areas of India. Lakhs of school children staying in the villages along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) face uncertainty as their education remains affected due to recurring shelling and firing. Frequent disruption to normal schooling has also put a psychological impact on youth in border areas as they are unable to compete with students of schools in other parts of India. Some of the most common problems that hinders the growth of education in border areas are-
Lack of proper transportation
Lack of proper infrastructure, as most of the schools don’t have appropriate classrooms, teaching equipment, playgrounds and even basic facilities like clean toilets.
Less financial support
Shortage of teachers
These are few of the prominent issues that are holding back border area education from being on par with their urban counterparts.
In pursuit of educational development in such areas, Vidya Bharati Alumni Shri Yash Pal ji and Industrialist Shri Satish ji ,donated Rs.5 lakhs to ‘Sarvhitkari Shiksha Samiti' for improvement of ‘Sanskar Kendras' in the politically unstable India - Pakistan Border areas.
An event was organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad in Phagwara Punjab, where Shri Yash Pal ji and Shri Satish ji were present to hand over the cheque to members of Sarvhitkari Shiksha Samiti.
