Shri Devraj Singh Patel is a lawyer by profession at  Bhopal District court. He is also a member of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Shiksha Samiti that primarily looks into the management aspect of his childhood school. A brief extract of his interview has been given below:

Interviewer : Please tell us something about yourself.

Mr. Patel : I come from a village near Sohagpur, Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. I have done my schooling from Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Sohagpur till 8th standard and completed 12th in 2007 form Bharat Bharati H.S. school, in Jamathi, Betul. I did my graduation from Jawaharlal Nehru Maha Vidyalaya Sohagpur and LLB degree from Career College of Bhopal in 2013. I passed Bar council of India examination in 2014, from Bhopal district court.

Presently I am a practicing civil and criminal lawyer and primarily deal with cases involving small criminal activities, as well as civil cases like property disputes.

Interviewer : Are you associated with any kind of social work?

Mr. Patel : Like most of my classmates, I have been taught to serve our society since our school days and hence it has become a part of my instinctual behaviour, rather than a conscious thought. Whenever anyone in need asks for my help, I try to help them to the best of my abilities. Environmental projects are also very close to my heart and I regularly participate in plantation drives.

Interviewer : Did your school have any impact on your life?

Mr. Patel : Much of my personality, my values and ideologies originate from the teaching that I had received as a student from my teachers at school. Apart from theoretical knowledge necessary to be academically successful, I have learnt to appreciate my cultural roots and learned the importance of serving my nation selflessly to the best of my abilities.

In order to serve my school I became a member of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Shiksha Samiti, Sohagpur in 2019 which helps in the management of the school.

Interviewer :  Would you like to share any message with the community?

Mr. Patel : In the modern setting it has become highly important to know your rights and basic laws, so that no one can cheat you in any manner. Thus I urge each and every one to learn about them. Also I feel schools should introduce a subject that teaches the students the same. We have to always remember that knowledge is power.
