Dr. Simantini Bhattacharjee, an alumna of Sarada Sishu Teertha, Suryasen Colony, North Bengal. She is a dentist by profession, practicing in Kolkata and an avid social worker. Recently she shared her experiences with Vidya Bharati alumni portal, whose brief extract has been given below.

 

Dr. Bhattacharjee had studied at Sarada Sishu Teertha, Suryasen Colony till 4th standard. After which, she went to Siliguri Girls High School to complete her 12th in the year 2008. She completed her BDS from North Bengal Dental College, Siliguri, in the year 2013. After this, she completed her senior residential program, for 2 years in North Bengal Dental Hospital till 2015. 

 

She pursued her MDS degree from Academy of Medical Education, Karnataka in the year 2019. After her PG course, presently she runs her clinic as Oral Implantologist and Periodontist in Kolkata. She is a Gold medalist in Oral Implantologist and Periodontist from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka.

 

Dr. Bhattacharjee is originally from Siliguri but stays in Kolkata in her in-laws place with her husband and his family. Her parents stay in Siliguri and her father is a retired govt bank employee. 

Apart from her work, Dr. Bhattacharjee is associated with two NGOs, namely ‘Swati Welfare Foundation’ and ‘Bhabaguri’. Both these organisations look after the welfare of daily wage earners and street beggars. She helps these organisations through donations as well as provide free medical aid, when necessary.

 

While speaking with Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra alumni team, Dr. Bhattacharjee stated that for her Vidya Bharati is like a second home, which has helped her to be strong and disciplined enough to achieve her professional and social goals. She also took the opportunity to thank her school and teachers for teaching her valuable life lessons alongside academics. According to her it was her school that had helped to develop a keen sense social responsibility from a very early age and continues to impact her decisions till date.
