Shri Mradul Jain, an alumnus of Saraswati Shishu/Vidya Mandir Saraswatipuram (Pathar), Ashoknagar, who is a journalist by profession, recently shared his story with the Vidya Bharati portal team via an interview.
Mr Jain has done his schooling till class 8th from Saraswati Shishu/Vidya Mandir Saraswatipuram (Pathar) Ashoknagar, and completed his 12th from Bardhaman H.S School in Commerce stream. He has done his Graduation (B.Com) from Indore and Masters in Journalism from MCU, Bhopal.
After successfully completing his masters, he got placed in Noida at ‘Amar Ujala’ Newspaper as Sub editor. In order to gather more experience in the domain, he worked with several others as well such as : ‘Patrika newspaper’ as a Bureau chief and ‘Business Bhaskar ', as Bhopal correspondent and later as it’s bureau chief.
At this point of his life, he had to return back to his hometown in Ashoknagar as his mother was unwell. He was offered a position in ‘Dainik Bhaskar’ newspaper in his hometown, where he worked for sometime and then shifted to ‘G-Media’. There he worked as a District Reporter for 3 years and was posted in Chhattisgarh. Presently he is working in ‘Univertaa’ (News agency), as a District Reporter, in Ashoknagar, for the last 5 years.
Along with being a journalist, Mr Jain runs a business of real estate consultancy and Govt liasoner for a Hyderabad company, where he is assisted by his staff members.
Mr Jain who originally hails from Ashoknagar, has spent his lifetime working across different cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Noida for work and has amassed a wealth of experience in his field. Presently he is situated in his hometown and stated that no matter the location, if one is passionate about his/her work every place feels as satisfied as in one’s home.
Talking about his family, Mr. Jain shared that even his wife is also associated with the same profession and working in TOI as an Assistant Director in Indore. They both have done journalism together and were classmates. They also have a three year old girl. His parents are retired govt school teachers who continue to guide him in life.
Mr. Jain was very ambitious from childhood and had developed a keen interest in writing from a young age. He was an avid reader and used to visit the local library with his elder brother in his hometown during his school days. He used to like spending time reading books and writing stories. He was fond of reading newspapers and wrote letters to editors on various topics. In school he used to participate in essay competitions at every opportunity. It was his love for writing and telling stories that ultimately lead him to take up journalism as his chosen career.
He has learned from his school the importance of social responsibility and has been associated with social service from a young age. He tries to help everyone who approaches him with any problem. For instance, once there was a shortage of water in his hometown, and he along with his friends was able to work on the problem and make adequate arrangement of water for all its residents.
Mr. Jain is also the secretary in “SAMVEDNA”, a trust formed by a group of people in Ashoknagar who tries to solve any problems plaguing the locality and its residents. He is also a part of an Whatsapp group called “HALLABOL” which works in a similar capacity. Recently during the Covid 19 pandemic assisted the ‘Janta Rasoi’ which distributed food packets to the needy.
While speaking with Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra team, Mr. Jain expressed his gratitude for his school for helping acquire life skills necessary to face any situation in life and acheive success. He is also obliged to his teachers for their patience and guidance.
As a parting message he urged all students to be responsible and take care of their society and environment. He also stated that every student should develop good reading and writing skills because it will help them in their future. They should read newspapers and gather basic knowledge in every field. This way they would be well aware of the current situation and well placed to determine their goals and targets.
