Director and Professor at KIPM College of Management Gorakhpur, Shri Dr. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, has dedicated his life towards providing education to hundreds of students. His journey and passion for education began from his school, Saraswati Shishu Mandir Kasia Kushinagar, High School in Uttar Pradesh and continues to inspire him several years later. He shared his experiences via an interview, whose brief extract has been given below.
Interviewer : Please give us an introduction to your academic and professional journey so far.
Dr. Srivastava : From a very early age I have been a curious person and learning something new gave me immense satisfaction. I never looked upon education as a burden as most children commonly do. On the contrary I always took each and every opportunity to expand my knowledge.
I did my schooling from Saraswati Shishu Mandir Kasia Kushinagar, High School and completed intermediate education from B.I.C Kushinagar. Numbers held my greatest interest so I decided to do graduation in Marketing and Accounting (B. Com) from B.P.G.C Kushinagar. I followed it up by completing my M.B.A degree in Marketing from V.B.S Purvanchal University, Uttar Pradesh.
Presently I am working in the field of teaching and administration and hold the post of Director and Professor at KIPM College of Management Gorakhpur. I feel satisfied to think that my work is not only providing quality education to students, but helping them to find their feet in the professional world as well.
Interviewer : Apart from your profession as a teacher, are you associated with any kind of social work?
Dr. Srivastava : Being an alumni of Vidya Bharati, I became aware of my social responsibility from a very early age. For the past 7 years I have been associated with social work and provide assistance to economically weak college students, so their education is not hindered due to lack of money. Every child in our country has the right to education and hope with my help some can reach their true potential.
Interviewer: Did Vidya Bharati have any impact on your life so far?
Dr. Srivastava : As mentioned earlier, the values given to me as a child by my school have helped to mold my personality and thinking pattern as it is now. I think that the ethics, ideologies and culture of Vidya Bharati schools has a positive impact upon an individual throughout his/her life.
Interviewer: Being a teacher yourself, would you like to share any message with the Vidya Bharati students?
Dr. Srivastava : Vidya Bharati is one of those institutions which gives emphasis on integrated development of students. The schools inculcate Indian culture among students. I would like to advise all students to work hard with firm determination . This time will never come back. It is the opportunity for them to utilize precious time and shape their careers . Also it's a moral responsibility of all children to fulfill their parents' dream and give assistance to social welfare.
