It is a common thing to say that “Youth are the future”. This is true. But, it is also true that whether one is still in high school or have freshly joined a college, these young people are also the present. They have the courage to speak out, they have the power to organize, they have an ability to multitask and they have numbers. Many of these young people are already entrepreneurs and leaders. They have power, individually and collectively.
Bappa Karmakar, an alumnus of Shankardev Shishu Niketan Halakura is already proving his mettle while studying his Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Political Science. His family does not need him to start earning money before he would finish his graduation. But, Bappa feels, it is his responsibility to become financially independent at his young age so that in later years he can support those in need.
Bappa, after completing his studies from the Vidya Bharati School, joined the college to pursue his bachelor’s degree. “I always had this zeal to start working since when I was very young. I had tried my hands at several types of work before starting my own business”, mentioned Bappa.
The young boy is hardworking, focused and always honed dedication towards everything he has done in life. He currently runs a distribution business of two top consumer brands – Coca Cola and Britannia in Assam.
“I carry my books to my shop, where I study whenever I find time”, shared Bappa. He wishes to develop a wide range of skills to take his business forward. Hailing from a small town of Assam, Bappa has already started working on it.
His business may be small today, but his vision is to expand so that he can generate employment for hundreds of youth from his state.
