Shri, Amit Kumar Singh, an alumnus of Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Sindri, is a successful banker by profession. An unfortunate health issue during childhood had left him paralyzed and forced him to leave school. Faced with the life changing event, Mr. Singh never gave up the fight, to reclaim and lead his life on his own terms. Today he is a manager at a well known bank. He shared his story with Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra alumni portal team via a short interview which has been given below:

Interviewer:  Kindly tell us something about your professional and academic background.

Mr. Singh:  I am an alumni of Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Sindri, where I had studied till class 8. During this time I had faced a major health issue because of which I couldn’t continue schooling. As my body was left paralyzed due to my illness, I left school and gave my 10th board exam from open school and passed out in 2004. I completed my 12th from Patna College of Commerce in the year 2006. After my schooling, I have done my graduation in Agriculture from College of Agricultural engineering, Raichur, Karnataka. Currently, I am working in Punjab & Sind Bank from the year 2012.  I joined as an officer and now I am the bank manager in Amritsar.

Interviewer:  Kindly tell us something about your family background.

Mr. Singh:  My family is  originally from Bihar but I stay alone in Amritsar due to my work. I visit my native place whenever I get time.

Interviewer: Are you associated with any kind of social work?

Mr. Singh:  I am not associated with any kind of NGOs, but recognizing our duty to give back to our community, I try to help out to the best of my ability. Throughout the years I have donated towards several social causes, as and when the need arose.

Interviewer:  Do you want to say something about your school or Vidya Bharati in general?

Mr. Singh: When we were Vidya Bharati students, the discipline and strictness which was present has reduced a bit. I feel as the students have changed now along with their way of thinking. When we were at school the values that I had received from my teachers had helped me a lot in my life struggles and reach where I am today.

It was my school that taught and inspired me to serve my society and my country. It gave a new depth to my life, for which I am very thankful to all my teachers.

I just want to tell my fellow juniors that they should imbibe the values provided by Vidya Bharati schools in their life with an open mind and without any hesitations. It will in turn always help them to take correct decisions in life and be an asset to our country. Vidya Bharati teaches us the importance of ‘togetherness’ and working collectively to protect our rich cultural heritage for our future generations.

Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra Parishad thanks Amit Kumar Singh for sharing his inspirational journey with the alumni community.
