A young Chartered accountant, school topper and a social worker, Vidya Bharati alumnus Ankit Kumar, of Saraswati Vidya Mandir Dr. Hedgewar Nagar Barwat Sena Bettiah, has faced several hurdles in life to reach where he is today. Recently he shared his life experiences via an interview, whose extract has been given below:

Interviewer :  Can you share something about yourself?

Ankit Kumar :  I come from a middle class family from Bihar. I lost my father when I was a few months old and was brought up by my mother. I  passed my 10th in 2007 from Saraswati Vidya Mandir Phulwarisarif ,Patna  and 12th from Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Govind Nagar, Kanpur. Later I passed B. Com from Kanpur University in 2012. I topped in my school and college several times.

I successfully completed my chartered accountancy exam in the Year 2016 at the age of 22, which is one of the toughest exams in the world. Presently I am working as a CA in Patna, Bihar.

Interviewer :  What is the reason behind choosing this profession?

Ankit Kumar :  Being a science student I always wanted to be an IITian, but due to financial crunch, I was unable to do so. Thus I got admitted for B. Com degree, which was completely different to what I wanted to do.  I have always believed that sometimes you have to accept your destiny and move ahead in your life.

When I got to know about the Chartered Accountancy course, I took it as a challenge and forged ahead. Many people tried to demotivate me saying that I won't be able to complete it as it is a very tough course. I kept faith in my belief and finally became a Chartered Accountant at the age of 22.

To conclude, I would like to say that  I haven’t chosen this profession, rather this profession chose me.

Interviewer : Are you associated with any kind of social work?

Ankit Kumar :  My mother always taught me that, whatever I become in life, it is because of the society, so it's my responsibility to give back to society as well.

I have been associated with social work since my school days, as our school always encouraged us to help others.  Later I adopted the philosophy that “Helping hands are better than Praying

Lips” and involved myself in various social work such as providing free education, donating

money for various social cause, engaging myself in different social drives, motivating  students, participating in various drives organised by RSS etc

Interviewer : How did Vidya Bharati impact your life?

Ankit Kumar : I am extremely thankful that I got the opportunity to study in Vidya Bharti schools. Along with good quality education, my school teachers and principal have always supported me in times of need.

In my initial days when I was struggling financially, my school offered me education at a very minimal cost and my stay was free. If my school and teachers did not stand beside me, maybe I would have not been able to complete my education. Whatever I am today in life, it's all because of my school’s support.

Interviewer : Would you like to share any message with Vidya Bharati schools and its students?

Ankit Kumar : I would like to say, my school days were perhaps one of the best things that have happened in my life. The way that my teachers have nurtured me and shaped my career. I will always be grateful. I have found my second family in my school.

For students, I would like to say that consider yourself lucky, if you have got the opportunity to study in Vidya Bharati schools. I would like to end by quoting the following, “ It's okay to be bad at good things rather being good at bad things”.

Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra Parishad thanks Ankit Kumar for sharing his inspirational story with the community.
