Leaving behind a conventional lifestyle and chasing your dreams into the unknown is a task not meant for the faint hearted. It takes extreme mental strength to believe in one’s own talent and follow the path less travelled. Vidya Bharati alumni, Shri Rahul Tripathi from the state of Madhya Pradesh, is such an individual who has dared to want more from life.
Mr. Tripathy was an academically inclined student. He started his schooling at Saraswati Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Nowgong, where he studied till class 10th and then shifted to local Government Higher Secondary school to complete his 12th. As his father is a doctor, he wanted his son to be in the same profession as well. So Mr. Tripathy joined Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed University), Wardha to study MBBS. He studied there for 4 years, but his heart lay elsewhere. While in his final year, he gathered up the courage to go after his lifelong passion and dropped out from the college.
He followed his dreams to the city of Mumbai, to become a songwriter and musician. Finally after 10 years of hard work, Mr. Tripathy is a well-established songwriter in Bollywood. His music has been released under well-known labels in the industry and penned songs for films as well. Presently he is at a stage of life where he feels that he has accomplished much in life and is looking forward towards his future with the hope of reaching out for more.
Speaking about young Vidya Bharati students who want to break into the same industry, Mr. Tripathy said that as a senior alumni, he is always ready to act as a guide and mentor to younger talents, provided that they have the required talent and prepared to work hard. He pointed out that the music industry is tough to enter and tests one’s determination alongside talent. Only the best can make a mark in the industry, so anyone interested in the field, needs to do a tough self-evaluation before taking the next step. As for scope and opportunities, that is something that needs to be made. In recent time it has become easier as now one can utilize the social media platforms to showcase their talents. It is not necessary to shift to Mumbai immediately as it is a costly city to live in.
Talking about his family background, Mr. Tripathy stated that his family comes from Nowgong. His father is a retired doctor and his mother is a homemaker. His younger sister who is also a Vidya Bharati alumni is a doctor as well. Presently he is settled in Mumbai along with his wife and two daughters.
According to Mr. Tripathy, in spite of living in a big city and working in an industry filled with glitz and glamour, he feels rooted to his Indian culture, values and country. He feels that he has been able to stay grounded and true to himself due to the teachings imparted to him as a young student.
Finally before ending the interview, Mr. Tripathy urged all students to give their 100% to anything that they decide to do in life and always remember the lessons taught to them by their teachers as those lessons will guide them in the right path always.
Vidya Bharati thanks Shri Rahul Tripathi for sharing his inspirational journey with the community.
