Vidya Bharati schools teach their students the importance of giving back to society. The concepts of ‘Desh Bhakti’ and ‘Samaj Sewa’ is ingrained in the moral fabric of the students.

One such story is that of Prince Tiwari, an alumnus of Shri Balram High Secondary Model Vidya Mandir, Bassee Jaipur, Rajasthan. He has been associated with several forms of social work since his childhood with major focus on  Environment, Social Issues and Natural Calamity.

Prince’s journey started when he was in class 5. During this time he and his friends formed an organization named ‘Yuva Shakti Sanghathan’ which consisted of 600 students. The members of the organization were responsible for  spreading public awareness regarding the need for safeguarding the environment and importance of planting trees. On occasion of  Raksha Bandhan, all the members took oath to protect trees similar to a brother who takes an oath to protect his sisters.

Along with environmental protection, he was quite passionately involved with several social issues. While studying in class 9,  he set up a ‘book bank’ with his friends with the aim of distributing old books among children who cannot afford new books. In a similar vein he also started ‘cloth bank’ where old clothes were collected and distributed in slum areas. He also took part in competitions and street plays to raise awareness on multiple social issues.

Prince holds immense respect for the Indian Army. To show his support towards the soldiers fighting for our motherland, he organised to get letters written by people from different walks of life honouring the army collected and sent to the soldiers through ‘Sainik Shiksha Abhiyan’.

In the arena of natural calamity, he extended his hand towards helping the victims of Odisha flood. He is also a member of ‘Upekshit Jan Shiksha Nidhi’ which serves those who are affected by natural calamities.

Presently Prince, who is doing his graduation, is involved with an organization named ‘Khele Bhee Aur Khile Bhee', where students from several states have come together with the aim of making the  future generation socially sensitive, so that students adopt social services as an integral part of their lives. The organisation also works on various issues such as education, women empowerment, protection of Ganges, etc.

Prince is also working on starting a ‘paper bank’ through which he aims to bring together schools and offices with the common motive to recycle and reduce paper waste.

Tiwari, a patriot at heart, who lives by the motto “Age Badho Aur Desh Sewa Mein Jute Raho.”
