Dr. Prem Prakash Singh, an alumnus of Nagaji Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Ballia, is truly an inspiration for many. From the small city of Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, he travelled to Australia, only to return to his Motherland to serve Her people.
Dr. Prem Prakash Singh completed his schooling from the Vidya Bharati School and then pursued his Master’s Degree in Physics from the University of Allahabad. He completed his PHD in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and University of Western Australia. Currently Dr. Singh is an Assistant Professor of the Physics department at Allahabad University.
“My inspiration has been my school. The moral values and love for the country which was invoked by our teachers is the reason for my return to my county”, mentioned Dr. Singh, who is still associated with Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Siksha Sansthan as the Kashi Pranta Sanjyojak.
Dr. Singh is also associated with multiple social initiatives. He runs free classes for girls in the villages of Uttar Pradesh. He has also adopted two to three primary schools where he renders his voluntary support through not only teaching the children but also by providing teachers and arranging online classes for the schools.
Every 15 days he conducts tests of underprivileged students from nearby villages of Allahabad to help them prepare for competitive examinations. Every year on 28th June a district level exam is conducted. The students who top are given scholarships of Rs. 1000 per month to continue with their higher education. This sum of money is given every month to the students for 3 or 4 years depending upon the duration of their course.
Dr. Prem Prakash Singh is also in charge of NSS (National Service Scheme ). Under this scheme he had been teaching slum kids for the last 3 years. They are also empowering these children to teach younger kids in the slum. “The first slum where we went now has a few such children who are now in their 12th standard. They are now taking care of the younger children in their slum, so we have now moved to other slums. They were 10th standard students when we met them, who are now doing graduation, and teaching younger students for 2 hours every evening”, mentioned Dr. Singh.
Every weekend Dr. Singh makes sure to visit his hometown Ballia to teach underprivileged kids there.
“Always remember what you have learned from Vidya Bharati, all that your Acharayas have taught you and automatically your career will grow”, said Dr. Singh as a message towards the students of Vidya Bharati.
Dr. Singh is also the sanjyojak of the Atal Tinkering Lab and New Education Policy 2020.
