A Journalist by profession, Vidya Bharati alumnus Shreyansh Tripathi, of  Bhartiya Shishu Mandir Siddhgiribagh Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh has been associated with various kinds of social service since a very young age. Recently he shared his experiences via an interview, whose excerpt is given below:

Interviewer : Please tell us something about your academic and professional background.

Shreyansh Tripathi :  I have done my schooling from Bhartiya Shishu Mandir Siddhgiribagh in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh and presently I am working as a journalist with Times of India. I feel that the media plays a very important role in society and it is the responsibility journalists to uphold the truth in front of the masses. This profession gives me immense satisfaction, as I feel that I am providing service to the society through my work.

Interviewer : Apart from your work, what other kind of social service are you associated with?

Shreyansh Tripathi : Me, along with a few of my friends, try and help out others whenever possible. After office hours we provide free education to children  belonging to economically backward families, who cannot afford formal education or private tuition.

We also arrange for medical services for people in need. Due to distance between Varanasi and Lucknow, in case of emergency we arrange for ambulance and other medical support as per need.  We provide free medicines or money for medical bills to those who cannot afford them.

Being a journalist, I have been able to establish a good network with several hospitals, which comes handy in case of emergencies. Recently we collected Rs.50,000, for treatment of a child who was suffering from heart disease.

Interviewer : What inspired you to do social work?

Shreyansh Tripathi :  When I was quite young, I lost my mother due to delayed medical response. From that day I decided that I will try and help others who are going through a similar situation.

Interviewer : Would you like to share any message with the community?

Shreyansh Tripathi :  I feel very fortunate to have studied in Vidya Bharati school. The education system in these institutions consist of a beautiful blend of formal studies and Indian culture. The only thing that according to me can lead to a better education system, is ‘modernisation’. Vidya Bharati should incorporate online access to education, smart classes, formation of student networks etc. This can propel  Vidya Bharati to the next level.

Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra Parishad thanks Shreyansh Tripathi for sharing his story with the community.
