The history of sports in India goes back to the Vedic age and it was considered as an integral part of human development. In a country, as massive as India, there is a treasure trove of sporting talent in every corner. In spite of the rich history, the massive pool of young talent and passionate sport loving citizens, our country continues to lag behind several other countries in sports.
There are several reasons behind this situation, one of which being lack of proper and affordable training facilities. Sadly, other than the major cities and towns, there is not much infrastructure and encouragement for sports and games. Faced with such dire circumstances, it becomes the responsibility of both the government and the citizens to push towards opening more training facilities at low costs so that more and more talented youngsters of our country get the opportunity to hone their skills.
Vidya Bharati have always laid great stress on promotion of sports, and many of its students and alumni have gone on to prove their merit in national and international arenas.
