In a country like India, where Agricultural sector provides livelihood to a large section of the population, use of innovative technologies, tools and machinery becomes essential to reduce the workload of the people involved and increase the productivity level.

Shri Rohit Namdeo, alumnus of Saraswati Shishu Mandir Higher Secondary School, Adhartal Jabalpur has a working experience in Agricultural engineering and presently doing research in the same field. Recently he shared his experiences with the community via a short interview, which has been summarised below:

Interviewer: Can you please give us a background of your academic and professional journey so far?

Rohit Namdeo: I am an alumnus of Saraswati Shishu Mandir Higher Secondary School, Adhartal Jabalpur, where I had studied till class 12 and then did my B. Tech degree in Agricultural Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Jabalpur. I have also done M.Tech from the same university in Farm Machinery and Power Engineering.

After M.Tech I worked for some time as Project Officer in Escorts Limited. Then I shifted to CNH Industrial as Territory Executive for 2 years in Rajasthan and later shifted to Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (Farm Division) as Territory Manager.

Although I had been working in the private sector for some time, my main interest has always been in the research sector, so finally I quit my job and presently I am a Ph.D Research Scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Jabalpur. I plan to utilize my knowledge for development of the agricultural sector of our country in future.

Interviewer: What is the reason behind taking up Agricultural Engineering as your field of study?

Rohit Namdeo: Since childhood I have been interested in mechanical engineering and later felt that agricultural engineering, which is very similar to mechanical engineering will be a good choice, since agriculture plays a very important role in our country’s economy. When I got a chance to study the subject in the governmental college, I took up the opportunity without thinking twice.

Interviewer:  How was your experience at school? Did it have any impact on your life?

Rohit Namdeo:  I received all the core values of life along with the best quality education from my school. The values of life or ‘sanskar’ which is provided to all students is something that I have witnessed only in Vidya Bharati schools.  It makes me feel proud to be a student of such an organization where the students are taught to be good human beings and serve their nation wholeheartedly.

As for the impact, it could be cumulative. I feel that the ethics and values that were a part of my education have enabled me to take right and quick decisions at each step and be ready to face life in a confident manner.

Interviewer:  Would you like to share any message with Vidhya Bharti students?

Rohit Namdeo:  For all the students presently studying in Vidya Bharati schools, I would like to treat their school as a temple and teachers as gods. Always be honest with your studies, follow the path shown to you by your teachers and you will definitely have a great future.

Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra Parishad thanks Shri Rohit Namdeo for taking out time and sharing his journey with the community.
