Fourteen years of service, witnessing the establishment and growth of a school, Shri Kailash Sharma recently reminisced about his association with Vidya Bharati.
Kailash ji worked as a teacher for fourteen years at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Machalpur, Madhya Pradesh as a Hindi and Sanskrit teacher. Just after passing his own class 12th in the year 1991, he started working as a teacher in the school. At that moment the school consisted of only four students and operated out of a rented Dharmashala, called ‘Janki Bai Dharamshala’. The students didn't even have chairs to sit in the classroom. Later a well wisher of the school, Shri Nepal Seth Varun donated Rs. 50,000 to help in the construction of a new school building. Within a month of inaugurating the new school building on 2 October 1991, the number of students grew to 21.
Kailashji recalls how under the able leadership of Shri Vagirath Kumrawat, the school grew from strength to strength. Presently the school consists of three buildings with more than a thousand students studying in it. Several alumni of the school are now serving the country as IPS officers and Indian Navy.
Though Kailashji has left his former school and is now a teacher at Kamakshi Khera Prathamik Vidyalaya, Kamalshikhera, the place for Vidya Bharati that has been lodged in his heart still remains. According to him, it was his experience at Vidya Bharati, that helped him to grow both personally and professionally. His longtime association with Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Machalpur, transformed him from a student to a respected ‘Acharya’ (teacher). It was here that he learned the value of Indian culture and its importance in education.
Inspired by his former school now he organizes events with the aim of spreading the importance of Indian culture via inspirational stories among the students. He has also donated towards development of Vidya Bharati schools, recently.
Kailashji carries his life lessons learnt in Vidya Bharati close to his heart and hopes that in future he will get the opportunity to give back to the institution as well.
