Saraswati Shiksha Mandir, Shanan - Providing comprehensive education to hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh

Located in the backdrop of dense deodar forests, Shanan is a peaceful locality in Himachal Pradesh. It is in this environment that  Saraswati Shiksha Mandir  has been providing education since its establishment in the year 2009.

Housed in a three story rented building on the hill slopes, approximately 100 students from classes nursery to 10 study in the school which is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education. Although the school is approximately 10 kms from the main town, the area is well connected with roads and the school has its own buses so that students can come to school safely and with ease.

Although the present uncertain times due to the pandemic and cancellation of 10th board exams has resulted in lower rate of admissions the school has gained the faith of the local residents.

The school has all modern amenities required for high quality education such as computer and science labs, well stacked libraries etc.

As it is the norm with all Vidya Bharati schools the students are provided with high quality education, which has been exemplified by the excellent results in the past year, along with activities for moral and social development.

The students from the school have received recognition in the fields of sports and science at district and state levels. From the very childhood the students are made aware of the richness of their culture, importance of nationalism and their social and environmental responsibilities.

The school lays great emphasis on celebration of cultural festivals, important national dates, environmental protection and social service. Even during the recent Covid related lockdown, the school helped to distribute protective masks and daily essentials among the needy.

While talking about the school, Sri Desh Raj Ji (managing director), stated that over time the school has been able to carve an unique identity among the local population. It became well known for not only it;s good academic education but also because of its stress on Indian ‘Sanskars’, nationalism, discipline and Social service. The fees of the school is purposefully kept affordable and low so that even students from lower income families can also afford good education.
