Sandeep Kumar, an alumnus of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Batwat Sena Bettiah, grew up in a family with a very humble financial background.
Since his childhood he was involved in various social service activities which were conducted by his school. He would often visit villages of Bihar and even Jharkhand with his schoolmates and teachers to offer help to the villagers. Sometimes they distributed food; sometimes they interacted with women of the villages on women empowerment issues. From this time, a deep passion to be a support system to the village women grew in Sandeep.
After completing his 10th standard from Vidya Bharati School he completed his higher studies and started his own initiative through which he offers financial aid to village women to start their business. Small loans in the form of micro-finance are offered to women who want to start their own initiative.
Sandeep and his team regularly visit various villages of Bihar to speak to the women of the house and help them set up their business. Most of these businesses run so well, that these women are able to pay back their loans.
Sandeep’s father was in the Indian army. “My first inspiration to serve the nation is my father and then is my school. As I visited the villages of Bihar with my school, I saw how much difficulty they faced in order to earn their daily living. This was when I thought I would serve these people and made it a mission of my life”, said Sandeep.
The micro-finance and entrepreneurship guidance offered by Sandeep and his team is not only empowering women but is also positively influencing their decision-making power and enhancing their overall socio-economic status.
